What are advance payments?

The state pays eligible child support first and later recovers it from the non-custodial parent.

Up to KRW 200,000 / month per child

This is the maximum for approved applicants. Support is available through age 18, subject to assessment and continuing eligibility.

  • A child-support creditor raising a child aged 18 or younger
  • An enforceable child-support document, such as a court judgment
  • Average payments in the three preceding months below the advance-payment amount
  • Evidence of efforts to enforce support, such as legal or collection proceedings

All requirements must be met. See the official guide for current details.

From a news story to practical support.

This guide began with a 31 October 2026 report about child-support cooperation in Chungju. The official advice and advance-payment links lead to the national Child Support Agency; this is not an application page limited to Chungju residents.

This independent guide is not a government service. Information was checked on 1 November 2026 and is not updated automatically. Apply on the official website, where sign-in or identity verification may be required. Linked official pages may be in Korean.
